Retired politicians, unshackled from office yet still well informed and well connected, often have the freedom to speak with refreshing candor and honesty. This is why Joschka Fischer’s comments are so important.

Fischer was once the leader of Germany’s Green Party and a former foreign minister and vice chancellor. His recent comments provide a glimpse into how Germany’s top leaders view the world and its multiplying crises. If other German leaders are thinking anything like Fischer—and it’s hard to imagine that some are not—then we should be very concerned.

Șantaj pe telefon

Știam! Auzisem că li s-a întâmplat altora. La una din bisericile române din Los Angeles s-a anunțat chiar public și câțiva păgubiți i-au avertizat pe ceilalți. Acum mi s-a întâmplat și mie.

La casa pastorală, unde eu nu stau, s-a primit un telefon cu un mesaj teribil. Ton oficial, probleme legale, implicată poliția, etc. etc. Singura soluție posibilă achitarea urgentă a unei sume de bani, o taxă, o achitare a unei vechi datorii, o reglare de conturi cu IRS (orgnizarea care colectează în USA impozitele anuale), etc.

Pentru că auzisem am știut ce să fac. Pentru că am fost preveniți n-am intrat în panică.  Ce am făcut totuși?

Puteam să nu fac nimic, ca să nu intru în hora aceasta dezgustătoare. Mi-am adus aminte însă că dacă pui numărul de telefon pe Google ai șanse să afli cine și de unde te-a sunat. Am pus deci numărul și am aflat…
